“I work with a reduced visual language, using tone, contrast, and structure to build images that sit between realism and abstraction. Rather than modelling through detail, I construct forms through deliberate areas of light and shadow, allowing the subject to emerge with clarity and presence.
My paintings focus on people and places that hold personal or cultural significance. Whether depicting a portrait, a street, or a landscape, I am interested in revealing character through restraint — the architecture of a face, the rhythm of buildings, or the pattern of light within trees. Limiting colour and simplifying form allows emotional content to surface without sentimentality.
I work primarily in gouache and watercolour, valuing the immediacy and decisiveness of these media. Each piece aims to hold a moment of recognition — quiet, direct, and grounded — inviting the viewer to pause and look more closely.”
