Description
Whitby Abbey and St Mary’s Church by Lynda Griffiths ( Lynartwales)
“I have painted two pictures of Whitby Bay, this one overlooking the famous ruins of Whitby Abbey and St Mary’s Church on the East Cliff, with the renowned 199 steps.
Whitby is a seaside town situated on the east coast of Yorkshire at the mouth of the River Esk. With it’s quirky narrow streets and bustling harbour its not only a very popular tourist destination but has a fascinating history.
Like my other Whitby painting this was a commission and the first I have painted which isn’t in Wales. However, with the bold colours and uniqueness it was a joy to paint.” Lynda Griffiths (‘Lynartwales’)
