‘Hoghton Meadow with Tree’ by Mike Lord
“One of my favourite places to walk is in Hoghton, close to Hoghton Tower in the parkland of a large country house. On one particular day the sunlight was streaming through the trees and this tree in particular looked so beautiful.
I love painting meadows and it gives me a great excuse for using more abstract marks in my paintings to create an effect which I hope is representational but also semi abstract. I thought the combination of the light and the tree and the meadow would make a great picture if I got it right. ” Mike Lord
