Description
Going Home 2.
“The second picture in a series.
After the first I started to think more what that actually means. And it means many different things to different people. It can be the place we live in currently, or town or village, or childhood home or even a different country. How we define it can be an emotional response to specific situations. And this means it can be complicated.
In my painting I am referencing the Andrew Wyeth painting, Christina’s World, which is itself a complex often misunderstood picture.
In my painting we are looking at home from a distance. The house is in darkness. There is a barbed wire fence. And yet it stands in a beautiful meadow and the sky is turning coral pink as the sun begins to set.” Mike Lord
